The country's leading crowd pulling annual event, the Open Mic Festival will for the first time have its performance virtually amid covid-19 pandemic public gathering restrictions.

These remarks were made on Tuesday on the Dialogue Box Music Conference on 360 Show where stakeholders of the music industry met to discuss the way forward for the music and music player in this pandemic suppose it passes 2020.

Speaking at the conference, the proprietor of Black Lynx, Wagan Faye says "there would be an Open Mic likely to be digital than terrestrial." He further added and called on Gambian artistes and Gambians in particular to go digital in order to level with the digitalized world.

Responding to whether the virtual open mic concert will be paid for, he said, "it could be free."

This is because according to him, Gambia is not to the level of spending money to watch online events.

"Black Lynx have no regret in staging two night events. It was not a mistake but intentional," Wagan dashed claims of the black Lynx making a mistake in hosting two night events for the Open mic last year. However, the two night open mic events will continue to be the new culture which according to Wagan will be more fun as soon as it's adopted by the public.

Aside, the lingering concern of Black Lynx taking the Open mic digital in a country whose internet tariff is high with poor network connectivity is worrying. On whatever may be the case with any solution and plan they have, December 2020 shall manifest.
