Mali: Sidiki Diabaté sent to prison for physical abuse on his ex-partner, Await Trial

Prominent Malian singer and Kora maestro Sidiki Diabaté was placed under arrest warrant on last month after three days in custody, said Dakaractu a source close to the case. The information reports the provisional detention of the Malian artist by the courts.


The prosecutor at the Commune 3 Tribunal ordered his “immediate placement” in detention at the Bamako Central Detention Center. The son of the famous Toumani Diabaté attacked his partner Mamasita and assaulted her.


Bruises on the arms and legs, observed on the victim seem to result from physical abuse, according to the investigation of the Judicial Investigation Brigade (BIJ).


This development cause a blow on the young artiste career as he was nominated in All Africa Music Award but he was later withdrawn from the award due to this alleged conduct. Universal Music Africa also suspended their contract with him. 


Remain optimistic 


Sidik in a social media post urged his fans across the globe to forgive him and not to hold any grudges against the lady because she was used by people to tarnish his career.


He strongly describes the case as witchunt against him, but strongly believes that justice will be served.


He stressed that he will remains relevant in the music industry as this alleged incident can't hold him back.
