Gambia is the only country in Africa that is yet to make effective and efficient use of its creative and cultural industries, despite numerous complaints and arguments from concerned citizens and stakeholder within and outside of the country to no avail, thanks to the venom sheer greed of only two persons, illiterate Sheikh Omar Jallow and yes yes with no commitment Hasoum Ceesay at the National Centre for Arts and Culture.

The institution that supposed to create thousands of job and other opportunities for Gambians and non alike through effective management of the creative and cultural industries has failed the nation and turned out be state liability.

Sheikh Omar Jallow is a half baked madara student with very limited conventional educational backround, but blessed lousy mouth with criminal intent, he is running the show at the NCAC, determing what should be done and what not to be, as the yes yes visionless director general Hasoum Ceesay complies with all orders made by Mr Jallow, as public interest is outside of their views for that poor institution, the nation, Africa and the world at large.

As the ministry of tourism and culture disburse D100,000,00 (one hundre million dalasis) bail out to its stakeholders, the greedy and selfish duo are up in arms again to cause havoc to the nation’s creative and cultural industries, through jacking of the fund meant to address basic needs of the industries players.

Information gathered so far has that, the duo in an attempt to divert this small tokens through Sheikh Omar Jaallow is planning to organise another fake congress for creative and cultural industries associations and groups, despite bitter complaints about the last August 2019 congress, which was not only dubbed as failure, but also fraud, dishonesty and lack of loyalty shown to the nation and members of the industries hoping to get a better organised, unified and progressive associations that will have a stronger representation at collecting society of The Gambia, but such dreams were shattered because of the greedy two in the name of NCAC.

It was said that, Mr Omar diverted the whole of last congress fund through deceit by organising fast and rush congress two days before Tobaski feast, despite protest against his decision by association members, but he went ahead and held the fake congress, through adoption of interim executives which never survive and up to now no proper congress is held for the associations and groups to have proper representation in the collecting society of The Gambia, meant to start collection of loyalties for our creative and cultural industries just like in other countries across the region and beyond, where billions of dalasis and revenue terms are collected and share among other beneficiaries, thus stronger contributions to the gross domestic product (GDP) of The Gambia, more wealth and job creation opportunities for the country and her people.

It also gathered that, the duo are at an advance stage to implement their plot to cheat the nation, creative and cultural industries as soon as the tourism and culture 100,000,00 (one hundred million dalasis) fund got in their hands, as Mr Sheikh Omar Jallow has already called his selected royals in the few associations and groups he thought are easy to go and handed them money and scheduled another fake congress, that will not only set the country back, but has the potentials of killing the spirit and morals in our creative and cultural industries, as there would no proper congress for another decades and that means there will be no functioning collecting society of The Gambia, which also means there will be no loyalty collection system in The Gambia for the our creative and cultural industries, there will be no single revenue from this sector for the Gambia and that that art of creativity and innovation will be death as there will be no environment for such, all thanks to greedy duo at NCAC.

Because the duo failed the Gambian creative and cultural industries, they don’t want to apologies and now they resorted to doing things as they pleases with arrogance and until someone put sense in them, otherwise the country and creative industries stands to suffer for another decades.

Such failures and not wanting to apologies to Gambians is the rush plot to transfer copyright office to AG Chamber under no specified terms and conditions and the plot is made without the blessings of Hamat Bah as the minister responsible for copyright portfolio.

Information also has that, the duo’s lack of responsibility, they left the money budgeted for the Gambia copyright office stakeholders by African Regional Intellectual Property Office until the money returned to that institution with no single artist or group benefited from it.

Due to the same irresponsibility and indifference to the interest and welfare of creative and cultural industries, AG Chambers through industrial property office was representing copyright office at the same African regional intellectual property office and WIPO up to date, despite copyright having the biggest stakeholders not only in the Gambia, but across the globe.
