Gambian reggae dancehall artist, DJ and producer, ENC World Vibe General, pinioned down comments on the rounded circulated video of King Patah (Gambian artist), about Djs not playing Gambian music in their platforms…
I have seen lot of DJs mad with King Patah’a video, I watch it; he made some solid points and I agreed with him even thou I will have to dispute with him on some, but I have known King Patah way back in Brikama, very joyous and positive man. The whole point is we have to reason and respect each other, that is his opinion to degrade Fire man but that doesn’t mean Fireman is not a legend. When conversation is build we shouldn’t grumble about it but fine a way to reason and with each.
DJs need artist and artist need DJs; we should be one family and build a positive conversation, I think am the best man to address this situation. The fault is at both side, artist need to reach out to DJs or send them their songs for promo, but also some DJs don’t prioritize Gambian music, look at the like of Jizzle, ST and Attack, they all made their way here without any DJ help. He continues to say this not the time to fight and divide our self, sometimes we take things too personal.
Dj Fire Man and Dj Pisces should hold away from their grudges and ego aside because they are the greatest thing that ever happen to our music industry, whole lot of young generation look up to them as role model especially the reggae dancehall genre.
He continue to prevail by saying sound system culture is dying in the Gambia because there is no platform where DJs talk about the history of the music and lot of artist and DJs are lost, he dear to challenge all the DJs that have been there after the times of Jah Lion, Dj-I, Dj Kora, Champion Sound to the generation of One Tribe and Fire House to the recent time.
Development comes with changes and when that happen, lot of bad energy rain from the same people that help up to build the music. It’s really sad when people point out DJs and said they don’t promote artist, I seen profuse number of artist that said to me fireman /Pisces help me to burst, the people that dispute with this don’t actually belong to their generation. He also emphasized talking good about people.
He continue to say we have to respect Fireman and Pisces, they are legends and they made it through without Gambian music but even thou they have so much respect for our music. One Tribe won an international sound clash because of Rebellion’s dub plate, imaging 2002 Pisces having dup from Rebellion, its only because of the respect Pisces has for the artist. Fire man took me everywhere in this country to play music and Gfaal gave me radio platform to burst. Djs contributed a lot in my career, have to be grateful but that doesn’t simple mean we/ artist were not neglected by some DJs.
